HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY AUDREY!

I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since our precious Audrey Faith came into this world! It still feels like it was only yesterday that we were holding her in arms being only 1 day old!

The past year of being a mom of two delightful daughters has taught me many things. Among them is a fact that Audrey has taught me – and that is to be more patient and calm. This has been such a benefit to both girls. Audrey is a real sweetie – she is bright, funny and smart and she brings so much love and joy into our family. She loves to sing and babble, has started pointing to objects and definitely has a preference for her mommy, daddy and big sister over everyone else, which of course is natural.

She loves being with her big sister Ellie and they are so adorable together. Ellie is the best at making her laugh! She loves when I sing her nursery rhymes like Itsy Bitsy Spider and the Grand Old Duke of York, which is her favorite song. She goes mad with giggles each time we sing. She is truly a joyous soul.

For her 1st birthday we are celebrating tonight with a nice family meal, glass of champagne and cupcakes. Tomorrow is her birthday tea party where she will celebrate in style with a few baby friends. I’ll be sure to post pics of the party decor here. Can’t wait to celebrate!

BABY SPRING SHOPPING! HAUL!

If you’ve been reading my blog for any time now you will know how much I love a style bargain, and when it comes to children’s wear I am still looking for style and quality at a great price!

PRIMARK in the UK never disappoints and I love their kids section! There is so much selection for girls and boys, big kids and little ones. I was able to procure some totally cute stuff for my big girl and the most adorable outfits for my little baby bear. We do have a PRIMARK open in Boston, and I must go visit there stat. Can they just open one in NYC please?

SUPER SIMPLE BUTTERNUT SQUASH & PEAR PURÉE

This quick and easy recipe will have your baby smacking their little cutie pie lips asking for more!

Take a quarter section of butternut squash and roast it in the oven for about 30 minutes on 350 degrees. Poach a peeled and deseeded pear, careful not to overcook it.

Blend the pear and squash together with a bit of water and voila you have a super easy and healthy purée for your little one.

4th of July Style

Hope everyone is having a great 4th of July! We are celebrating as we do most years with a low key barbecue at home and a visit to our local parade.

Thought I would share my eldest daughter’s #ootd. This cuuuute dress is from Shein.com, purchased for her an in extra small. She is tall and the fit is perfect. It’s roomy and cool for today’s sweltering temperature.

Find the dress here!

Baby Number 2 On Board!

I couldn’t believe my ears when the doctor told me, “you’re pregnant!” I looked at her in sheer disbelief. I mean of course it was possible. I just didn’t think it was possible for me, especially since getting pregnant with my first daughter seven years ago was so hard fraught.
So here I am, 37 years old and newly pregnant.  I had a mixture of emotions, joy, excitement and nervousness.   I wanted to do everything to make sure I kept my stress levels down in order to take care of myself and my baby the best way I knew how. and for me that included several hours of self prescribed bed rest a day.
I know bed rest may seem controversial to a lot of people as we are told to exercise daily even in pregnancy, but every body is different and when you get to the ripe age of 37 you begin to know your body and what works best for you.

So I kept my activity low.  I walked my dog for 20 minutes in the morning, did my work and household chores and retired for a nap most days around 12 noon until about 2:30pm and it has been glorious! I am very fortunate to be able to do this as a stay at home mom with my eldest in school.  But even so, I am glad I have given myself the gift of rest.

I am now 37 weeks along and the baby can technically come at any time.  The good news is that all my vitals remained normal and baby is doing well, so we might be able to go the full distance this time around and get to 40 weeks. My only complaint has been severe swelling in my legs and feet which have me feeling pretty limited in my activity, so bed rest is actually a necessity at this stage in the game.

I would say that I am a lucky one to have had such a pretty good pregnancy so far, especially since my first pregnancy was smooth sailing until I found out I had preeclampsia at 28 weeks and ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks before my sweet Ellie was born.  I guess that experience taught me the value of taking it slow and avoiding stress at all costs especially during pregnancy.

So we are almost there, I cannot wait to meet you, my new little one!

Until Next Time! xoxo

Our Maternity Photos!

I never had a chance to do a maternity photo shoot when we had Ellie. It all happened so fast. I was working in a very fast-paced investment bank and my stress levels were super high. I thought I was “handling it” being pregnant and all. But inside I was counting it down to my maternity leave when I could stay at home and rest and nest. Except it didn’t happen like that. I was rushed into the hospital, after a routine antenatal check ( this was in the U.K. ) and diagnosed with preeclampsia. The rest is history and my lovely Ellie bear was born 1 month early, weighing 4lbs and 17 ounces and strong as ever.

Now she is almost seven years old, smart as a whip and the tallest girl in her class.

I digress. So with all the drama surrounding my first delivery, we never did a maternity photo shoot. But this time around it’s been so different. Here are the lovely photos taken by the very talented @nataliawphotos based here in New Jersey.

Natalia was amazing to work with. Calm, fun and flexible. She worked with me to achieve my vision and I think they all came out so fab. Enjoy!

Ellie’s Pre-K Graduation | June 2016

I have been MIA from my blog for so long, I sincerely apologize! My little bear Ellie graduated from her pre-school last week and it was such a heart-warming occasion for me, from seeing this small human being grow before my very eyes into a sharp, funny, witty and beautiful little girl, it brings me to tears sometimes. I guess this was the emotional jolt I needed to get me back into the blogosphere to share this special moment with you.

Its not everyday I feel like this you know. I am not one of those mothers that will wax lyrical about how you need to enjoy all those precious moments of motherhood because they will go by so quickly. Well sometimes when dealing with tantrums and mood swings, you want those moments to evaporate because motherhood isn’t always a bed of roses. However, it is moments like these, when you see your little one’s face all lit up, looking so scholarly in her cap and gown, and singing her sweet little heart out to those special faces in the audience, you know that without a doubt she is your heart and soul and you would do anything for her now and forever. Congratulations my darling!

See clips from her ceremony below!
