Spring Clean my closet with me! How I Transformed My Closet from Cluttered to Luxurious with These Furniture Pieces

A well-organized, beautifully designed closet can set the tone for the day, making getting dressed a joyful experience. However, my closet had become cluttered and chaotic, leaving me feeling overwhelmed every time I walked in. I wanted a space that felt more like a high-end boutique—a place where everything had its place, and luxury met function.

With some strategic furniture updates, I turned my closet into an elegant, streamlined retreat. Here’s how I did it!

Before: A Crowded and Overwhelming Space

While my closet had a great foundation with plenty of storage, the open shelves and lack of organization made it feel cramped. Clothes were packed tightly together, accessories were scattered, and the overall look was more chaotic than curated.

I knew I needed a system that would not only make my closet more visually appealing but also create a sense of ease and functionality.

The Transformation: Luxury Meets Organization

To achieve the sophisticated closet of my dreams, I focused on three key upgrades:

1. Elegant Storage Cabinets with Glass Doors

I replaced some of my open shelving with glass-front cabinets, which instantly elevated the space. These cabinets give a refined, boutique-like feel while keeping my shoes neatly displayed and dust-free.

The glass doors add an airy, sophisticated touch, while the gold hardware ties in beautifully with the luxurious aesthetic I was aiming for.

2. A Chic Center Island with Glass Display

A center island was the ultimate game-changer! Not only does it provide extra storage for smaller items like jewelry, sunglasses, and scarves, but the glass top also allows me to beautifully display my most-loved pieces.

Having an island in the middle of the closet makes the space feel more intentional—like a personalized shopping experience rather than just a place to store clothes.

3. A Dedicated Vanity and Styling Area

I added a vanity near the window to create a designated area for makeup and accessories. This change allows me to get ready in a well-lit, elegant space rather than scattering my beauty products throughout the closet. A velvet chair, gold-trimmed mirror, and soft lighting complete the look.

After: A Boutique-Inspired, Organized Closet

With these upgrades, my closet now feels like a luxurious retreat rather than a cluttered storage space. Everything has a designated spot, making it easier to find what I need while maintaining a visually pleasing aesthetic.

Now, getting dressed each morning is a pleasure rather than a chore. My favorite handbags are displayed like works of art, my jewelry is beautifully arranged, and I finally have a space that reflects my love for style and organization.

Final Thoughts: Creating a Closet You Love

Transforming my closet wasn’t just about decluttering—it was about elevating the space to make it feel special. With a few intentional furniture updates, I turned a chaotic space into one that feels polished, elegant, and perfectly curated.

If you’re looking to revamp your closet, focus on these key elements:

✅ Closed storage to minimize clutter

✅ A central island for function and display

✅ A dedicated vanity for a touch of glamour

With the right pieces, you can turn any closet into a luxurious, organized oasis.

Adventures in Venice 🇮🇹

Venice had always been a dream destination for me — a place filled with romance, history, and endless charm. As a homemaker with a passion for family adventures, I couldn’t wait to explore this unique city with my loved ones. And let me tell you, our time in Venice was nothing short of magical! From staying in Lord Byron’s apartment to gliding through the canals on a gondola and taking in a stunning sunset cruise, every moment was unforgettable.

Staying in Lord Byron’s Apartment: A Step Back in Time

We began our adventure by staying in Lord Byron’s historic apartment, nestled in the heart of Venice. The moment we stepped inside, we felt as if we had been transported to another era. The apartment was filled with elegant details — antique furniture, old-world charm, and a sense of timelessness that made our stay truly special. Every corner seemed to whisper secrets of its past, and knowing that the famous poet Lord Byron himself once called this place home added an extra layer of enchantment.

The regal cherubic ceiling cornices

The apartment offered breathtaking views of the canals, and we often found ourselves just gazing out the windows, soaking in the Venetian skyline, with its iconic domes and bridges. It was the perfect home base for our family to experience Venice’s vibrant culture and history.

Gliding Through Venice on a Gondola Ride

The kids were amazed by the narrow waterways and the sight of daily Venetian life unfolding on the water. We passed charming cafes, hidden gardens, and small markets, each turn revealing something new and delightful. It was a beautiful way to experience Venice’s character, and it felt like we were living out a scene from a movie.

A Magical Sunset Cruise on the Venetian Lagoon

To cap off our Venetian adventure, we embarked on a sunset cruise along the lagoon. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and purple, we felt an overwhelming sense of peace and wonder. The gentle rocking of the boat and the soothing sound of the water lapping against the sides created a tranquil atmosphere that was perfect for reflection and gratitude.

We sailed past iconic landmarks like St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace, their silhouettes glowing in the soft, golden light. With a glass of Aperol in hand (and fruit juice for the kids!), we toasted to a day filled with adventure and new memories. The sunset cruise was the perfect ending to our Venetian adventure, a beautiful reminder of why we travel: to connect with each other, discover new places, and find joy in life’s simple pleasures.

Why Venice is Perfect for a Family Getaway

Venice offers so much more than just stunning architecture and scenic canals. It’s a city that invites you to slow down, savor every moment, and see the world from a different perspective — from the water! The kids loved the uniqueness of traveling by boat everywhere, and the slower pace allowed us to truly connect as a family.

Staying at Lord Byron’s apartment gave us a taste of history and elegance, while our gondola ride and sunset cruise filled our hearts with joy and wonder. This trip reminded me of the importance of making time for these special moments with loved ones, exploring new places, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Tips for Your Own Venetian Adventure

  1. Book Unique Accommodations: Consider staying in a historic apartment like Lord Byron’s to add an extra layer of magic to your trip.
  2. Gondola Ride: A gondola ride is a must, but try to go early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid crowds.
  3. Sunset Cruise: Don’t miss a sunset cruise! It’s the perfect way to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Venice from the water.
  4. Embrace the Adventure: Venice is a city meant to be explored by foot or boat, so leave room for spontaneity and wander wherever the canals take you.

REFRIGERATOR CLEAN OUT & GROCERY HAUL

Today is a rainy Monday. Although the weather may be grim outside, it is the perfect day to make a sunny home. Today I’m getting on to  those long overdue chores, like cleaning out the refrigerator.  Here’s a bit of inspiration to tackle the task if you may need to get your fridge in check too!

Best to start this job with a large garbage bag. Get your latex gloves on and start getting rid of last week’s dinner detritus. Once the fridge is completely decluttered and left-overs discarded, I prepare a simple cleaning solution consisting of a capful of lavender scented “Fabulouso” (I love the scent of the stuff and its tough on grime) and warm water and then set about scrubbing all of the shelves.

Once my shelves are all clean, I go back in with plain warm water to remove any product residue. Then I begin to put the fresh groceries in the fridge.IMG_3036

I usually do food shopping every 7-10 days through online delivery with PeaPod.com. This makes grocery shopping easy and convenient, plus my groceries are delivered straight to my door according to my schedule. How easy is that!
