FEMININE HOME OFFICE MAKEOVER

Hi friends! How are we doing today? I hope everyone’s doing well. Today I’m going to share my home office makeover! My home office was a space that I completely neglected – I didn’t give it any love and appreciation, it was just sort of room that i would go into occasionally to pay bills and play around on my blog. I didn’t really love the space. Recently I started watching an amazing Youtuber, I call her a sister in my head. She is Heather Baxter of HB Ministries and she mentioned how important it is for we as women to create spaces that are our own whether it’s an entire room like this or even if it is just a small area of your house or even a closet – whatever you can find just make it a space of your own.

A Room of One’s Own is an extended essay by Virginia Woolf, first published in September 1929. The work is based on two lectures Woolf delivered in October 1928 at Newnham College and Girton College, women’s constituent colleges at the University of CambridgeWoolf isn’t all mysterious about the title of A Room of One’s Own; she really lays it right out there. The point of her essay is that women—and all writers—need to have rooms of their own. Preferably with locks. These private rooms give women the ability to think independently and without interruption.

With these ideas in mind, I’ve been really inspired to ramp up my home office. I’m so fortunate to have a room of my own that I can close the door and make this my space so that is what I have done! Previously to it looking like this, it was painted a very dark gray – this was when gray was really popular. I liked the color but it just wasn’t inspiring, it was very dreary and cavernous. It took the idea of a ‘mommy cave’ too literally!

I decided to lighten up the room once virtual learning began. I have repainted it in my favorite white which is Cloud Cover from Benjamin Moore (OC -25). Its so bright and airy and goes well in any room of your house. I have painted probably 80 percent of my home in this color and I just really enjoy it. I painted this room because I thought my daughter would use this room mainly for her school work as it turns out she prefers to be more social so she’s in the dining room with her schoolwork now.

I just love the color! So without further ado let me show you the office tour! Leave me a comment below.
